1122 Initiative

It’s simple. Meditate for 11 minutes for 22 consecutive days.

We all know that meditation is important for a happy, healthy mind and body. But we have busy lives. And adding a new habit can be challenging. It has been for me.

That’s why I created the 1122 Initiative: to help you get a start into a daily meditation habit with only 11 minutes a day.


Why 11 minutes? Why 22 Days?

Studies show that we need 21 days to build a new habit and that meditating even 5 minutes a day can change the structure of our brain.

So why 11 and why 22?

11 minutes is short enough to fit between tasks and projects during the day, plus I love the #11 - it’s my birth month.

22 days because it’s one day more than the 21 day habit building duration we need for a new habit. That one day is for preparing and getting ready for the 21 days (this is where my introduction and orientation content will help you). Plus, 22 is my birth day!

How Do I Prepare?

Find a Quiet Corner.
All you need is a quiet corner to sit comfortably. Get a chair, a couch, the floor, anywhere where you can safely sit with your eyes closed undisturbed for 11 minutes.

 

Is 1122i for me?

Any one of these 11 is A good enough Reason for you to Join This Program:

  1. You are convinced that a daily meditation is important in your life. Or

  2. Have a busy work-life situation and cannot commit to 30 min/hour long meditations. Or

  3. Have tried to meditate daily but frequently fell off the wagon - I know this - life happens! Or

  4. Are brand new to meditation and want a structured way to get into the practice with some guidance. Or

  5. Feel it would be helpful to watch videos and get daily email reminders for building your daily meditation habit. Or

  6. Find that joining a program builds accountability which then helps you to build a daily habit. Or

  7. Find it easier to meditate when someone is guiding/instructing. Or

Once you join the initiative, you will get an email for 22 consecutive days with an 11 minute video each. The first will be an intro video with a practice meditation. Then each day you get a video covering 11 different meditations.

When Should I Do the Meditation?

Anytime that fits your schedule - say right after breakfast or right before going to bed. Ideally, do the meditation at a regular time each day - that would be in a dream situation. But when the day gets the better of you, fit in the 11 minutes however you can. Consistency is key so try to do it for 22 consecutive days. Even weekends, I know, I know. Even weekends because the string of continuity is what will help you build the habit.

Are there worksheets?

No. No worksheets. No homework. I want this to be as simple as possible with one sole focus - meditating for 11 minutes for 22 consecutive days. Of course, you can do some journaling or creative project right after the meditation. But that’s all bonus, extra credit stuff!
